A whole-family approach to education and wellbeing

We are bringing together a village of like-minded families to play, learn and grow together. We want a connected, conscious community for our children to grow up in, where we all foster and support the growth of each other’s kids, as well as creating a safe and supportive space where we can lean on each other to share the ups and downs of parenting/life. There is no age limit, including elders, as a healthy village needs the support of (and provides support to) all generations!

We currently meet every Tuesday from 10am-3pm at Future Roots, Stanmer Park. For more info on our days and dates, read our memberships page.

In our first term we have already made some beautiful friendships and I'm so grateful for the authentic connection and communication. The garden transports us to another world, every time we arrive I still feel in awe of the space!

We flow with the seasons

The curriculum rhythm of the Village has been expertly crafted by Kim and Nikki, two wonderfully wise and intuitive women who both live and work closely with nature. And so our Village 'rhythm' flows in line with nature and her seasons and the Wheel of the Year. In each new season we will have a new focus for our time together, with our sessions being chosen to reflect the time of the year we are moving through, food and weather, and our needs as humans on the earth. (Each activity or chosen theme is only ever an initiation for members to engage with as they like, a starting point for new conversations and ideas, never an obligation.)

This rhythm lends itself perfectly to offering eight 6-8 week terms seasons, roughly aligned with the Wheel of the Year, but also intentionally avoiding mainstream school holidays. That way we can enjoy holidays outside of school holidays and any siblings who may attend schools can join us every now and then too.

We offer memberships for each new season in a block booking to honour the depth of connection that we are building between families. For the time being our doors will remain open to new families to join us for a ‘trial day’ and should they chose to join the Village we ask that they book for the remaining weeks of the current block.

Each term we will have a Village Council and a Family Social to bring the season to a close with introspection, feedback and celebration of all that we've created together! We will then take a week's break before gathering once again for the next season of Villaging together.

A typical day at the Village

10am We arrive slowly and gather together in our morning circle, tea in hand, to welcome each other and connect to the land.

11am For our morning session, half our adults head off in to the yurt for some much-needed nourishment such as authentic relating circles, guided breathwork session or conscious parenting workshop. All the children along with the other half of the adults and our trained facilitators stay in the woodland garden together for a morning of intentional nature-inspired activities

12pm We gather together again as a whole Village for a lunch. This is currently a bring-your-own healthy picnic, but in the future we aim to have a chef on-site who can create a seasonal yummy lunch for us all to share! (We are looking for a chef - if this is something you could offer please get in touch!)

1:30pm We close our container in the early afternoon while we are still altogether, gathering in circle once more to reflect on our day so far and share our learnings. This leaves the whole afternoon for what we call "Open Village" - high quality being together, tea and fireside chats, and buckets of free play! Families can leave at a time that works best for them.

3:30pm After sharing in the tidying up and various Village jobs, we close our gates and say goodbye to our garden 'til next time.

About our space and host

Rafael Berrio is the creative life force behind the Future Roots garden that hosts the Village every Tuesday. He's a musician, carpenter and artist and the garden is brimming with his creations. Future roots is an "Environmental and Ecological Holistic Education Centre, providing a space for events and artists that promote bio-cultural diversity and have important conversations about social and environmental issues locally and globally." For more info on Future Roots, click here.
The garden speaks of many stories and shares an ancient wisdom that is almost audible as you enter. It is a truly enchanting and inspirational space and we are incredibly grateful to have found our home here. Don't just take our word for it, come and see it for yourself!

Uniquely Inclusive

We are a Community Interest Company and we exist to serve our community! Make sure you check out our memberships page to read all about our paradigm-shifting energy exchange as well as discounts which aim to make our community more accessible.

Our future for the Village looks like growing into running our core offering for the whole family on 2 days a week, plus introducing a pregnant mama circle and a drop-off program for older kids, hopefully in Spring 2025. Something for everyone!
